PMI Great Lakes Chapter - April 28, 2004

Our SIG was an exhibitor at the chapter's Annual Symposium--"Evolving from Theory to Practice"--held in Sterling Heights (a Detroit suburb), Michigan, on April 28, 2004.  Our SIG Chair and member volunteer Lisa Foster, greeted many local members and potential new members among the 400+ attendees.  It was great opportunity to get our message out to the Chapter's members, and put a 'face' to our virtual organization.  The Great Lakes Chapter, one of PMI's largest chapters with over 2,000 members, is one of five Michigan-based PMI Chapters. WiPM has over 50 members in PMI GLC alone.
Explorathon - April 8, 2004

Over 950 girls in grades 8 through 12 attended this years Exploration at Seaholm High School in West Bloomfield, Michigan.  Exploration is an all day event where career women from the community volunteer their time to conduct workshops which demonstrate how to apply math and science to a variety of careers.  Often, girls tend to drop out of higher levels of math and science classes due to peer pressure or in some cases not understanding how these subjects relate to various careers.

PMI Nova Scotia Chapter - CIPS April 28, 2004

WiPM SIG was a proud contributor to this chapter event by providing literature and logo items.  240 grade 9 girls from across Nova Scotia gathered to explore careers in IT at the 3rd Annual Women in IT  We Can Handle IT  program. Sponsored by CIPS, this program is designed to encourage girls to consider a future in the IT industry. Less than 25% of computer technology graduates are women.
ProjectWorld Canada - May 17-21, 2004 Toronto

This event is one of the leading venues for members or the project management community to continue to hone their skills.  Through the Exposition, Workshops, Forums, and Symposiums, ProjectWorld Canada has been helping to keep project management practitioners on the cutting edge since 1997.  WiPM SIG was again an exhibitor at this event. WiPM Board member Jennifer Graham, Director of Finance, enlisted several member volunteers to assist her in representing the SIG.
